AST will present its XVII Model United Nations Conference (TAIMUN) on April 17-19. ALL high school and Grade 8 students are involved in this event. Regular in school and after school meetings are held for HS students from January 14 to April 15. These meetings prepare students for the debates, speeches and logistics. Grade 8 students will be involved as secretaries on the days of April 16-19 and will prepare for that role during late March and early April. The meetings for Grade 8 students will be announced at a later date.
The first meeting for TAIMUN DELEGATES will be held Monday, January 21, 2019, from 3:45 to 4:55 PM in the AST theatre. ALL high school students who have been assigned to be TAIMUN delegates must attend. The second meeting will be on Friday, Feb. 1, during the last end of day activity period, in the theatre. Administration and Press Committees should check their emails for meeting times. Students should clear their calendars until April 15 for meetings on Mondays after school and Friday activity blocks. Some training sessions will be on Mondays after school and some will be on Friday afternoons. Further dates in February will be announced on or before Feb. 1.
ALL students from Grades 8-12 are required to wear business clothing for the final TAIMUN event, April 17-19. Males must wear a tie, business jacket, and business pants, or a suit and dress shoes and socks. Sneakers are not allowed.
Females must wear a business suit or dress, and business shoes. High heels are not recommended and skirt lengths should be knee length.
