Middle School Service Project
For the second year, middle school’s STUGO has organized a service project and fundraiser to assist the Gougoushan animal shelter in Wufeng District. Students will have an opportunity to work with about 150 dogs waiting for permanent homes. On this visit they will be washing and then refilling all the water and food bowls and containers. They will also be brushing, walking, and even just playing with dogs. This interaction is an important activity for the dogs since it helps them with socializing and learning good manners, so that they have a better chance of being adopted later.
MS students need to return the permission form as soon as possible. Since we need to limit the first visit this year to about 15 students, students who turn in forms first will have the first opportunity to go. This event will take place on Saturday morning, December 2nd, from 8:00 – 11:30AM. Transportation will be provided by the school. We hope to continue this activity two more times this year, so that many students will be able to participate later as well.
Along with the visit to the shelter MS STUGO has also organized a two week long fund-raising drive to provide funds for Veterinary Services. There will be a competition between advisories for donating the most money, with an award for free tea going to each member of the winning advisory group. Parents, staff, faculty, ES and HS students are also urged to donate to this worthy cause. Either send donations with your middle school children, or place your contributions in the container located in the school library. Thank you for your help with this worthwhile project.
